I have a new 914ce and am trying to smooth out the sound. The ES2 may be groundbreaking ,but,I prefer my 2012 814ce!
I have tried adjusting the pickups , lowering the treble on the preamp and amplifier. I even switched to polyweb Elixir strings!
I play through a Bose L1 amp so there is only one Xlr input making it impossible to use a DI box since I run my voice and
guitar through a Digitec signal processor. It is just me??????? I am at wits end, so I just placed an order for acoustic
"flatwound strings". Stay tuned....

This was exactly my experience with an 810ce.  I described it as a harshness.  I also have L1 model 2 w tonematch.   THere was a thread about a year ago RE this where several others reported the same thing.  I'll see if I can find it and link.

I have a BOSE L1 Compact with the T1 Tone Match. It was such a pain to get my Taylors to sound good on this. However, I also have a Roland AC-33 Acoustic amp and it sounded better with my Taylors with ES2.

I also own a Martin Dreadnought Jr, and that has the Fisman pickups and it has no issues sounding good in both amps. So I was thinking there is a a mismatch with Taylor ES2 and the BOSE, even though it has the Taylor Presets.

Most of the time I bypass the presets when connecting my Taylor 814ce or 514ce. Sometimes I select a Martin preset.

Also I have adjusted the 3 little screws on the bridge and was lucky to modify the sound a bit. I would suggest you try this as well.
