NGD - 2013 Taylor 618e First Edition

You guys already know I'm nuts for guitars.    Last year (or was it 2010?), just when I was getting ready to move on a Taylor Jumbo they announce they are re-voicing the doggone things and won't be making any in 2012. I was in a dilemma. Do I get a used one or wait to see what Taylor comes up with? Well, I decided to wait and I am so happy about the release of the Grand Orchestra. After reading the reviews here on UTGF (thanks Nomad and Giraku) and hearing the Music Villa demo, I had to pull the trigger.

I have always wanted to add some Maple to my stable and I was encouraged by what I was reading about the new bracing and what it brought to the GO. It just seemed the right time to get me some Maple. I called Guitar Rodeo this afternoon, traded in my 2011 Spring LTD GS Mahogany (plus some $) for a new 2013 Taylor 618e. I am excited. It should be here sometime next week and so begins the brown truck watch.

That is a nice guitar.  Will yours be a three piece back also, they are my favorite in maple.  I like the inlay on the headstock, it's nice.  I look forward to a review.  Better yet I want to go try one for my self, I am aching to try the 518e as well.

Now begins tracking syndrome ... let me see ... when was the last time I checked? ... better check again ... nope same place ... how many stops are they going to make? ... hope they have the heat on in the truck ... when was the last time I checked?

Although I am ecstatic about the new 618e on the way, today was kind of bitter sweet. I had to part with my very first Taylor. A Spring Limited GS All Mahogany. I have become partial to smaller guitars and since the GO is is a large guitar (and my wife is in a one in, one out kinda place) I decided to trade in the GS. Sad to see her go. She was sounding so sweet. Oh well, I'm glad for having had the chance to known her.

And a great big shout out to Jim Tordoff @ Guitar Rodeo. Great deal and a really good guy. What a pleasure to work with!
