Taylor necks

Thinking about adding another guitar to my collection. Maybe a Martin. Just wondering if Martins low-profile neck is kind of the same shape as Taylor necks?

I have a Martin HD28 and a Taylor 414CE.  I have never actually examined the necks as far as actual shape/dimension but I don't find the necks to be noticeably different - at least not enough to make either one easier to play...at least as far as I can tell.  I can't say re other Martin's, the HD28 is the only Martin I own.

I own the 2012 Martin D-18 that features the modified low oval "Performing Artist" neck with the 1 3/4 inch nut width.  It's very similar to my Taylor GA3 ... that's one of the main reasons I went for that particular Martin.

Their PA series necks are thinner than the Taylor standard carve necks, closer to Taylor's slim carves. Their Retro series uses a slightly thicker PA neck that is around the same thickness as the standard carves.

If you are buying a Martin though, I would recommend the Retro series, because they have the same unplugged tones as their standard series, whereas the PA series are braced like their lower series and as a result do not have a good unplugged tone.

The Martin PA neck profile 1 3/4" nut seems to have the same width at the 12 fret as a 1 11/16" nut neck.

The standard neck carve seems closer to the PA and the slim carve resembles the low profile.

Not all of the PA Series models have Hybrid X bracing.
