Shameless plug for Dennis's new book
« on: February 18, 2014, 01:24:02 PM »
Hi everyone,

Dennis here. I just wanted to let you know that I published a book this past week, and I'd love it if you'd buy it, read it, and review it. That would mean a lot to me.

And one more thing: keep in mind that 99.99 percent of books go absolutely nowhere these days without word of mouth. That's where you come in. If you like the book, please recommend it to all your friends. Hopefully they'll recommend it to all their friends, and so on.

You're probably wondering what on earth a guy like me might write about that could fill an entire book. Here's the official description: The author was shoved into the workforce at age six, and he's had some of the most bizarre jobs ever since (such as dressing as the Scarecrow and singing for Judy Garland, auditioning for The Dating Game while on LSD, and running a projector at a porn theater owned by a rabbi). Fans of David Sedaris will love “If I Only Had a Brain,” a collection of gems that take you through one hilarious work-related misadventure after another.

"If I Only Had a Brain" is available for digital download in the following online stores:

The iTunes book store

Kindle: www.amazon.com/If-I-Only-Had-Brain-ebook...ywords=dennis+globus

Nook: www.barnesandnoble.com/w/if-i-only-had-a...67?ean=2940148189992

Kobo: store.kobobooks.com/en-US/ebook/if-i-only-had-a-brain-2

The good folks in countries other than the U.S. might not be able to use the above links, but your local versions of the Kindle, Nook, Kobo, and iTunes stores will likely have the book for sale.

Thanks so much in advance if you intend to purchase the book. I look forward to reading your reviews of it.

Congratulations and good luck with sales Dennis.  Looks like a fun read.

Thanks very much mgap and Jersey.  I think the book really hits its stride in about the 4th chapter.  Enjoy the preview.

Congrats on your book. Like it or not, most writers must master what I called "the shameless art of self-promotion" when my first (of three) book came out. I know that book titles can't be copyrighted, but am curious as to whether you communicated with David Sedaris or otherwise considered a different title...

eljeffe:  I hope you like what you see in the sample enough to consider buying the book.  Thanks for your consideration.

jrporter:  I mention in the forward that the book actually went through a series of titles before I settled on using the title of one of the chapters.  "If I Only Had a Brain" makes sense both in the context to what the photo depicts on the cover of the book and to the book's theme.  I'm a little confused by your question.  You seem to be linking the issue of copyrighting a title to David Sedaris.  What am I not understanding?

It was early, and I misread your mention of Sedaris. I mistakenly read that as David Sedaris had a book/anecdote by the same name. My bad and good luck with your endeavor....
