For the Martins I currently own, I cannot give a tonal difference because a difference already exist between Rosewood and Sapele. I will provide a comparison against a few Martins that was a fare comparison in tone woods.

And I would be curious to hear how the 310 and 320 compare to each other.

TWO guitars arrive the same day?  Dang! :P

Those are gorgeous, and I would like to hear the tone comparison between these two too.

Nice! I would also like to have one each of a Spruce and Mahogany top. Must be fun to switch between the two...Congrats.

This looks like fun. I love my mahogany 324 but would like to pair it with a spruce top guitar just for something different. Never thought I would buy a mahogany top guitar, but nothing really compares to it's richness in tone. Thinking a spruce might be nice for the volume.

I'm curious which one you find yourself going to more often?

Hi FletchPic:

Honestly some times I feel a little less ramped up and have a peaceful mellow feel or want to maybe get a little bluesy, that is where my Taylor 320 comes into play. When I am playing Bluegrass , Country and some rock is where the Taylor 310 really does the justice to those types of genre I love. If I had to give one up which I do not I would let go the 320. The 310 is the best all around out of the two.

Now let's throw a cat of a different color into the mix. I recently bought a Taylor 416 with a spruce top and Ovangkol back and sides. This guitar believe it or not has become my go to guitar and handles Bluegrass nicely and can be heard in the jam and holds it's own against any other guitar in the mix that I play with. I know it will be great when I get a chance to play it on stage in a little while. I am a Mahogany lover and always will be, but there is something magical about Ovangkol.

Very true!  Ovangkol sounds very similar to rosewood to me but the difference being that rosewood tends to have a little more bass but not as strong mids.  Ovangkol seems to have the mid range that rosewood lacks.

BOTH are great tonewoods for sure.
