Suggestions for wireless guitar system
« on: March 05, 2016, 02:46:03 PM »
 :-\

Ideas for a wireless system to use with my 915CE (ES2) and AER Compact 60/3?
A Scotch and an acoustic guitar.  Life is good.

Have just ordered a Shure GLXD16. Will let you know what it's like.

The Shure arrived yesterday and I set it up at home. Very easy set up and it worked a treat. Sound quality as good as a straight plug in into an amp. Yet to try in a gig situation though!

I've never looked into one of those before, so when I saw your comment I looked it up - I had a major "How Much????" moment :-)
So a serious question. How do you justify the cost?  I mean, are you having issues with cables, or is it just a case of "I want one of those"?

I don't know George, don't you use gold cables on yours?  ;D

Yes I do have an issue with cables as I have to switch from playing keyboards to acoustic guitar during a gig. Murphy's law dictates that all the cables will wrap around each other during the course of the night and bring the whole rig crashing down!! Also I like to go out into the auditorium during soundcheck to see for myself what the sound is like and I'll also venture out during the gig!! Can't wait to try it!

What a great application for cordless, I hadn't thought of that...I've often tried to walk out as far as I could into the auditorium attached to my cable, not getting very far, but how much better if you could go wherever you want in the room and check the sound...really like that idea...haven't seen the price yet, but if someone with an AER says ouch, me with my Fishman mini might say, "DOH!" LOL

Looking forward to hearing how it goes for you live :)

I have had great results using the AKG system.  Works well and does NOT alter the tone (which a lot of wireless systems do)

Here is an amazon link for information:

Ah, never considered that. No doubt it'll do the job - good luck with it...

I use a Line 6 G30, quite happy with it and the sound is as good as any of my cables.  You'll hear a few complaints about it being plastic, battery door, etc., and maybe it wouldn't stand up to heavy nightly abuse by a pro and his/her roadies, but it works fine for me.

Used the Shure GLXD16 for the first tima at a gig last night. It was phenomenal! The sound was crystal clear - best I've heard my guitar sound! Battery was still almost fully charged after 3 hours.  :)
