Taylorsense question
« on: November 10, 2016, 12:23:28 PM »
The previous owner of my 814 removed the expression 2 pickup and had an LR Baggs system installed.  Does anyone have any idea whether that would prohibit swapping over to the Taylorsense thingamabob?

Taylorsense replaces the existing
output jack/power supply unit -
provided that the harness that plugs into it was
left intact (using the 9V for power), it should work
it's not about what you play,
it's all about why you play ...

The TaylorSense features work independently of the jack.  When I was beta testing the system, I had the uninstalled unit sitting on my desk with a 9v battery installed.  it was reporting temp, humidity and physical shock data just fine via bluetooth to the app on my phone.

Like Gutch said, it works independently. I also did the test and now have 4 installed and it seems to be working really well. One seems to read a little high on the humidity but I have a hygrometer there now to cross check it in the case, may be worn out humidipaks.
If they left the ES 2 in the bridge and the board in the guitar with the wire and harness you should be all set.
Good luck,

Well, I got the Taylorsense module and could not install it.  The entire expresssion system had been removed and replaced with the LR Baggs equipment.  I took it to the local Guitar Center and they couldn't do it either.  It looks like I will have to buy an expression system and have it installed to bring the guitar back to its original configuration before I can install the Taylorsense equipment.  Does anyone here know how much an expression system will cost?

I presume the pickup is still there or there would be holes in the bridge so you only need the preamp.

Hey Greg,
If part of the system is still there(under bridge pick up) it should be an easy install anyone can do. If you aren't sure, Pat Diburro in Exeter, NH is actually authorized to install the system in a non e model so could obviously do a partial, and is closer than sending it to the factory, which I believe is the only other option for a full install.
A call to Taylor customer service or an email to Mr. Diburro would be in order.

Good luck and let us know how it goes.
