Here's a followup to my initial NGD post earlier this month.
I have to say that I think this guitar is the best "out of the box" production Taylor I have ever played. I'm not a fan of Elixir strings because my ears don't like the high end shimmer so I fully expected I would be changing strings within a day to what I normally like. Well they sounded pretty good on this guitar (maybe the combo of cedar and Koa tamed that shimmer a bit) and I kept them on for 10 days but I kept asking myself if the guitar sounded that good with strings I don't typically buy, than how would it sound with strings I normally like? I caved this morning and I put on a set of Thomastik Infeld Spectrums (11-52) and these strings seemed to give the guitar more mid and high end clarity. The overall tone is very balanced and sweet (not too much high, great low end with no hint of boom). And I just love the comfort of the 12 fret, short scale neck. It really works well on the GA body. Taylor should make this a standard model, it's that good to me. I also swapped out the tuners with Gotoh 510's which not only work great but just make any guitar look better IMO.
Some pics, enjoy.
