Dehumidifying
« on: June 22, 2017, 01:44:19 PM »
All summer long I stay in a 30 foot rv camper in central Michigan. The rv has air conditioning and helps somewhat. For instance right now the outside temp is 68, with air on in the camper, temp is 68. The humidity level prior to the air conditioner going on was 76 inside, while the outside level is 91 as I type this. After the air conditioner activated, humidity dropped to 66. I believe I need some sort of dessicant or other means to help keep my guitars drier. I have on order a Caliber digital IV hygrometer. Any suggestions would be welcome.

For a camper it'll be a little hard to keep humidity right possibly compared to house. Honestly I'd try buying a small small size dehumidifier. I recently purchased a 70 pint dehumidifier but this also is made big enough to dehumidify my whole 2000 sq foot house. Even a 30 pint dehumidifier would be to big I believe but it would also eliminate the need to dump water that's collected as often. They make small dehumidifiers around 10 or 15 pints which would work great. Hard to find these small sizes in store but online you could easily find them. One of these below would work I suppose or one similar from another brand.

Could try an Eva Dry dehumidifier and these are made to plug in and recharge when full. But I'm unsure how well they work but people seem to like them.
