Hi steelstring,

The real question is how you like the sound/feel.

For a couple dollars and some minutes of your time, try it out!

First in all transparency I don't like medium gauge strings to begin with. That's one of the many reasons I like GAs - they perform so well with light gauge strings. I haven't owned a GO, but I did own a GS which comes equipped with medium gauge strings.  I switched to lights and all the wind went out of its sails.  Just my experience.  You'd probably  do better with a GA or GC.

2020 714 - lutz spruce/rosewood

Like Strumming Fool.... my GS7 really likes mediums... not lights. I have tried one set of lights on the 518 GO. I didn't make any notes about it, so must not have been too severe. I just decided that the reason for buying and using the jumbo is to reach to the back of the room on a Sunday morning service for the kids... 3 services.... I don't plug it in, so the mediums work fine, and my hands don't seem to suffer using them..... yet!

The only guitar I use mediums for is my GS mini, I think it really needs them.  I have tried light(and some prefer them)gauge, but the tone and volume are gone for me.  On the other hand, like Marco said, it only costs a few bucks to find out whether or not they are for you, and if your hands like them better, well then, all the better for you.  I would suggest Elixer lights, I use them an all my GAs

I have them on my 818e now and I like them okay (better for finger picking and bends) and when I do drop tuning even with the lights the 818 really shines where my 414 didn't really cut it. Just curious about other users. I guess It's all about personal preference.
