That's how it used to be. Slotted headstock 12-fretters were non-Gotoh, regular headstock 14-fretters were Gotoh.

However, on both the Guitar Center and Musician's Friend sites it is showing the 12-fretters having Gotoh tuners.  Example:

https://www.musiciansfriend.com/guitars/taylor-812ce-dlx-12-fret-v-class-grand-concert-acoustic-electric-guitar?rNtt=812ce%2012-fret&index=4

From the site:
Quote
The essence of the Taylor playing experience lives within the rosewood/spruce 800 Series. 800 Series DLX V-Class guitars, like this 812ce DLX 12-Fret V-Class Grand Concert acoustic-electric guitar, build upon the 800 Series platform by adding an exquisite, mid-century-modern- inspired Radius armrest and chrome Gotoh tuners. The Radius armrest isn't just a marvel of craftmanship, it actually takes the edge off the playing experience, easing the physical stress on a player's strumming or picking arm. Gotoh 510 tuners supply a higher 21:1 gear ratio to give you finely calibrated tuning control

Reference to Gotoh in the ad is probably a typo... the pics don't show them and in the bullet list in the same ad, under "Other" is lists "Tuning machines: Taylor nickel slotted with ebony buttons "

Well they could be Gotoh tuners but definitely not 510.  With the slotted headstock they use side mount tuners and standard tuners are not Gotohs

Taylor said the only differences other than the bracing is that the the nut will be graphite instead of tusq and the label (the one inside the guitar?) will be different. The 12 fretters do not have Gotoh tuners.

I do wish Taylor would add one more body size along the lines of the GS Mini to their full sized line-up but make it 24-7/8" scale length like the GC. One can dream.
