Anyone using an Ultrasound AG15 ?
« on: April 06, 2012, 09:24:16 AM »
I have a Genz Benz Shenandoah 100 acoustic amp to use for "serious" gigs.  I've been toying with the idea of a small, really portable amp.   I know the larger Ultrasound amps have had some good reviews on other forums, but I'm wondering specifically about the AG15.

Anybody using one or tried one with your Taylor ES?

Hey there Carl,

I used to own a DS4 which I really liked a bunch ...great tone that was pretty natural and uncolored.  I sold it only because I found I didn't really need it as going straight into the snake was simpler.  That said, I found a used 15 for a buddy of mine who wanted to venture into amp'ing his yamaha.  When I put the amp through its paces (with a Taylor ES guit), it sounded great and immediately reminded me how good these Ultrasounds are.  And talk  about light ...niiiice!  The only thing missing from these little guys is wattage, the 2nd channel, and the fx (and the fx are lame, IMHO).  But the tone is all there.  Hope that helps you :)

Thanks a bunch Edward, that's good information.

Just out of curiosity, what Taylor (body size and woods) did you play through it?

You're welcome. :)
At that time, I was using both a 410 ltd (spruce/ovang) as well as a GA7.   But I was more likely testing said AG15 with the GA7 (with 2010 ES system).
