Hi All
« on: April 21, 2012, 01:09:35 PM »
Just wanted to introduce myself to you all.  I'm a brand new player (2+ months).  I had purchased an Ovation about 5 years ago with the idea that I was going to learn...well, I finally picked that up and got serious about it a couple of months ago.  Anyhow, the wife and I were on the mainland a month or so ago, and we had stopped in a GC to get her an electric bass for her birthday (she plays acoustic and piano well, but wants to learn bass...lol).  While she was looking at accessories, I wandered in to their acoustic room to see if there were any Taylors on the wall...specifically, I had read a ton about the 414 and wanted to check it out.  Well, they had that and a 314...I strummed them both, and the 314 just sang to me.  She came in, played it for about 2 min, and looked at me and asked me..."Do you want it?"...DUH!...lol  So, here I am, sitting on the deck just up the road from Key West, 49, with an almost two year old (my first, last, and only child...lol) learning to play this wonderful instrument.  It's coming along nicely, yet incrementally.  So, that's me...just stopping by to say "Hello"!

Hi Ronh, welcome!  I spent lots of time in the keys but mostly middle keys.  Did get down to Key West occasionally.  I can see you out on the deck, water lapping at the edges, sitting under the tiki hut, strumming your Taylor.....ahhhhhhh 8)

It's 5 o'clock Somewhere....

Congrats on the Taylor.  The 314 is a very nice guitar, I am sure you will love it.
Welcome.

Hi Ron and welcome to the forum! :)

The 314ce is an awesome guitar (I also have one) so I'm sure you will get LOTS of enjoyment and playtime with it! Guess it's good for folks like us that sapele is a sleeper wood in Taylor's line up. Many players want wood that most people know by name, but sapele guitars (and ovangkol) are awesome in their own right! Nice to have you here with us. :D

Thanks all for the welcome!  As I sit here at work a bit after 1 in the morning, watching the weather and working on my chording, I know I made the right decision buying this phenomenal instrument.  This is actually turning into a ton of fun!
