Cedar top tiny dent repair...
« on: December 17, 2013, 12:02:16 PM »
So... My cedar top hog has a few really small dents, very superficial. The thing is, I'm super OCD and EVERY TIME I pick her up, it's the FIRST thing I notice. Yeah yeah, I know ...character  and all, but it still doesn't help my OCD at all. Can I take it to Taylor and pay to have them steamed out or do they not do that there? If that is the case, where CAN I take it in the San Diego area to have it fixed? Any help is greatly appreciated :) Thanks inadvance

I know how you feel.....I also have OCD when it comes to my instruments. I would think Taylor could do a fine job for you. Sounds like you are right in their back yard. I would trust no one but Taylor. Good luck. Let us know how it turns out.

Take it back to the mother ship. It may cost you but they will do a fantastic job.

Kyser capo bite marks and pick scratchs plus all the bumps and stuff aren't a big deal. I had an old beater take a slide and one of the tuner knobs put a perfect oval hole in my 314ce right next to the three little knobs. Every time you pick it up you can't help seeing it. Used to bother me and almost had it repaired by Taylor. Decided to keep the $ and play on.

I know how you feel about the dents, I have a couple on the top of my 514 (cedar). :(  I going to live with them I think.  I am interested how it turns out for you, I could also be swayed in the repair them direction. ;)

I use a cane to walk with and one day not too long ago I leaned my cane up against my leg to grab something with both hands and the darn thing slid right off my leg to hit my 514 square in the face. It was on the stand right next to me. Plus it had three  small dents the size of the date stamp on a penny when I picked it up from the previous owner.  They are super tiny but I know they are there and to me (not anyone else, I'm sure) it's like going to work without combing your hair. No one else may notice the entire day but every time someone looks in your direction you think "they're staring at my hair aren't they?" I know it's psychological but that doesn't make me feel any better about it... .

My guitars are like magnets, regarding dropped objects. Physics are defied and stuff happens. I usually blame the carpet... >:( If you have the funds for the spa treatment at Club Taylor, go for it. :)
