Anyone own or played a Blueridge with a 1 3/4" nut?
« on: August 31, 2014, 04:58:09 PM »
I love my GA3 but with rather small hands, I wouldn't mind a slightly smaller neck  (although I like the string spacing that the 1 3/4" nut gives.)  Curious about Blueridge.  Their 1 11/16" nut string spacing is too tight, IMO but I'm wondering about their 1 3/4" nut guitars and how that nut width/string spacing might compare to a Taylor.

I recently purchase a Blueridge BR-162 which is a 12 fret  with 1-3/4" nut.  When I contacted Saga to get the spacing they told me it was 1-11/16".  My local guitar shop had one in stock so I took my trusty ruler with me and it measured 1-3/4" at the nut and the string spacing at the saddle was 2-5/16".  I think Taylors are 2-1/4" at the saddle, but I was looking for a less expensive guitar with the same spacing as my Bourgeois OMC, and this one fit the bill.  The neck profile was slim almost like the Bourgeois.

I hope this helps!

If you could measure the string spacing at the nut from E to E (outside) and tell me what the E thicknesses are, that would be a tremendous help.  Thanks.

From E to E measurement is 1.5" outside to outside of the strings.  The strings thickness are .050 (e) and .011 (E).

Thanks a lot.  That tells me it's about the same string spacing as the Taylor or Martin 1 11/16" nut which is fine.
