Hi, I don't mean to hijack your post, but I have a question. I plan on buying a mini as soon as the 2016s arrive at my dealer so this question is important. Why did you buy the Koa? My problem is that I love both the mahogany and the Koa. I really haven't been able to hear too much difference in the sound (youtube demos) so why the Koa? Was it purely based on looks or sound? I want the warmest, prettiest one I can find. LOL.
I bought mine late last year - I was undecided between the Hog and the Koa. But since it was primarily for daughter #2, she had the final word and chose the Koa "because it looks way cooler than the other one", and I tend to agree.
Tone wise, they both have the trademark massive sound, but I also think the Koa sounds better. It has the same fat sound of the hog-topped version, but it rings brighter, particularly on the tops, making it a little more balanced overall. But as ever, tone is a subjective thing and you should try to A/B compare them if you can, and decide for yourself.
