Umm excuse me? Maybe you didn’t see my last reply:

Well with a little time my frustration and sadness has started to subside. I now look at my Taylor 814CE as an beautifully played acoustic still in perfect condition. And not a beautiful piece of art because I’m to afraid to touch lol. I’ll still be careful and wish for no more dings. And again the ding is in the most unnoticeable area ever - seriously hard to spot.

Yes but just because there are real problems in the world doesn’t mean a person cannot feel a little down about placing a ding in their new acoustic. Seriously who pissed in your Cheerios or made your world so mad?  :o Again as I stated in a previous reply and which I’ve included above you’ll see I’ve stated I’ve pretty much gotten over it  ;) .

Take care and try to smile  :D and relax

We're with you LK. Many of us have been in your shoes at one time or another. It hurts, but we try to get over it or address it. I have a couple of small, almost undetectable dings on my otherwise pristine stable, and I tend to ignore them over time. I did have one wood binding ding that Taylor did a fantastic job of erasing from existence, so there's always that option... Taylor can work minor miracles with their finishing technology.

God bless!

Thanks everyone :)

Time heals all wounds and dings :)

If or when it ever comes to a major fix or repair or if I just get the funny feeling I’ll have the tiny little ding fixed. It’s no longer bothering me and I’m playing on as normal :)

Of course, only you can answer "should I repair it?".

<<<Second, anecdotally, the case lid may the number one cause of dings and your example is only one way to do it. Another is the lid comes crashing down on it being put away or taken out. So caution is always warranted when casing or uncasing. I'm super cautious about this reading about all the other postings on it, so if I'm gonna ding a guitar, it's not gonna be this way.>>>

I had this happen several times with my old Alvarez...The lid slammed down and the little tab on the latch dinged the top of the guitar face.

Since then, I have adopted a particular method for uncasing and casing my guitar that involves always blocking the lid with my right hand or my right forearm.

I remove the guitar with my left hand, which is easy, since I am left handed, but somewhat ambidextrous.
(I play guitar right-handed, as well as a lot of other activities....)

1st ding = liberation!  :D

Yeah, we've all btdt, but once you get past the initial stick, look at it as freedom to play with abandon. It really does feel good :)

I really like my guitars pre-dinged. If they have a wood combination I like and playablity, I'm good with a scratch and dent. I never really wanted to own a case queen. One less thing to fret about.

As a gigging musician, my guitars aren't case-queens.  They get a lot of mileage, and tend to pick up the occasional nick and scrape.

Ooops, but they all sound better with dings.
