I LOVE BOYCE AVENUE!

I'm pretty confident this is a shure sm57 cardioid

this is when Boyce avenue started using Adam Barber as a recording engineer.

the mic can also be seen in some of the newer videos, like "I want it that way"

plus, you can google Adam barber orlando recording...there is an interview with Adam barber and he states what gear he uses

it's ironic tho, b/c everything I have read says to use a small condenser mic. I'm sure Adam does an amazing job and mixing and eq'ing

The mic on the guitar is some type of small diaphragm condenser (SDC), but unfortunately, we don't get a good enough look at it to identify it definitively. The vocal mic appears to be either a Shure SM-58 or Beta 58.

Shure Beta 58A
Shure SM58
Shure SM57

It seems possible that the vocal mic is a Shure Beta 58A despite the absence of the blue band. Unfortunately there isn't enough detail in the photograph for me to identify the guitar mic but I agree that it is a small diaphragm condenser microphone.

if it's the same mic in this video (0:26)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M4zCOHFrLVY
to me, it looks a like a neumann (the km184 is quite popular)

i guess it could (it doesn't have to be instrument-related) -
it could also be the radio/stereo, games, sports, etc ... ;)

the guitars are different in the 2nd video, but the vocal mics are the same as in the first one &
the instrument mics don't seem to have the same shape (length, taper or head) as the sm57 -
the end of the cable appears to have some white marking on it & the mic doesn't look 'tapered'
it's not about what you play,
it's all about why you play ...

In my previous post, I originally had a picture of the Neuman mic but deleted it before submitting the post because I didn't think there was enough detail to provide sufficiently hint that the instrument mic could be a KM 184.

the link i posted earlier
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M4zCOHFrLVY
is not the same video as the OP posted

the guitars are different, but the performers &
vocal mics are the same (green tape on one of them)

from 0:41-0:47, the shape/profile & the red emblem
on the mics in front of the guitar resemble a neumann -
i guess that they might be the KM184, which is very popular

i have no clue what kind of 'shotgun' mic is next to the percussionist ???

good call on the 58A :)

those neumanns are pretty pricey :o
hope to hear some soundclips of you & your guitars sometime :)

i'm a bit surprised to see that Alejandro & Daniel Manzano are not on the Taylor artist list -
they play plenty of them (unless they belong to the recording studio) along with PRS & Gibson electrics

i like this one a lot - looks like a dark top 614ce (possibly cedar or redwood)
the calling's 'wherever you will go
