The Taylor store doesn't show a black adhesive pickguard,
but I have seen one.  Perhaps it was a custom part, but
call Taylor and ask.  800.494.9600.

i've only seen the Taylor clear removable 'guards on-line -
DS custom has a black removable guard, which could be trimmed a little if desired

the faux 'tortoise' adhesive backed ones are the only ones currently listed on-line -
the black permanent ones are a BTO option & i remember seeing them being available
as an accessory/replacement part in the past (i thought), but they're not shown now

it could be the perfect 'excuse' to order another guitar ;)
'but dear, that's the only way that pickguard is available' :-\

That ain't the way it works in my neighborhood, Michael.

Louie, before you go sticking that thing on, try calling a few
dealers, like some of the sponsors here, and ask if they have
any of those black pick guards in their stash.

just wanted to clarify that there are NOT  any 'sponsors' here -
there are dealers that choose to participate, but the expense for keeping
the forum running is being generously covered solely by Josh at this time

here are a few great folks that members have had
wonderful experiences with (listed in no particular order)

Bill @ Nichols Custom Inlay (wood pickguard)
Dave @ Dave's Guitar Shop
Don & Marty @ Wildwood Music
Eric @ Martin Music
Jim & James @ Guitar Rodeo
Jon & Sharon @ My Favorite Guitars
Jack @ NorthEast Music Center
Paul @ Tobias Music
Steve, Bruce & Lance @ Wildwood Guitars
Ted & Helena @ LA Guitar Sales

for those i've missed, i'm sure others will 'chime' in :)

Sorry, Michael, you're absolutely right and I misspoke.
But those are the people I was thinking about.  Good
folks, all.

Looking for a black beveled pick guard  for my cedar topped Taylor. I don't like the reddish tortis shell color it came stock with. I might have to order an ebony one from Bill Nichols.  I am a little concerned that it will be too thick and decrease the volume and tone.  Anyone have any experience with his wood pick guards?
