New Taylor, New to Forum

Hi Everyone,

I'm new to the forum, but I bought my first Taylor (a 710CE) back in 1997. Yesterday, I picked up the newest member of the family...it's an 816CE-LTD.

I saw and played one of these during a Taylor Factory tour back in April and thought it was a remarkable instrument. For many years, I'd been planning to indulge myself with a new Gibson Les Paul for my 50th birthday, but after playing that Taylor, I altered my wish list.

The guitar is beautifully made and it sounds amazing. I've heard others describe the Cocobolo sound as being "Piano Like."  I think this is about right. It's just a clear, powerful, deep tone. It's a keeper. I've attached a couple of pics.

(And with that Fender, you didn't really need a Les Paul anyway!)
And welcome here from me, another rookie, You will find that there are very nice people here and most very knowledgable.

Nice to hear that you've got an older Taylor along with your brand new one. I have guitars in the same approximate age range, and I enjoy them all. Have fun!
