Sound clip of Builder's Reserve V
« on: July 25, 2012, 01:10:30 PM »
After playing the BR-V for a week, I just captured a sound snapshot.

Here is the sound clip.

I have been doing this for all of my new guitars since last year. I always play Canyon Canon by Mark Hanson and record without reverb and EQ tweak so that the tonal difference can be compared as objectively as possible. And please excuse my sloppy playing on this one. My attention went to my new mic (Blue Yeti Pro) not much to my playing, and it was 2am after a tough day... :-[
Anyway I wanted to share this with you guys.

I plan to write a review on this guitar and amp combo but the amp is still "back ordered" (whatever that means).
As soon as I receive the amp, I will post pics and my impression.

Thanks!

Aside from the fact that the guitar sounds magnificent, you're playing is excellent.  I really enjoyed that.

thanks for sharing the sound clip, Giraku :)

it sounds great (the playing & the guitar) -
depth, warmth & rather unique 'shimmer' ... very 8)

i wonder how many would have guessed it's a spruce/maple guitar
just by the tone, if the model wasn't revealed beforehand ???

sweet :D

Thank you Dennis and Michael for your kind words.
It still sounds "young". I'm raising this baby (named "cap") with great care and enthusiasm.
I need to keep my eyes on other guitars so that they don't get jealous. ;)

And I agree with you, Michael, it would be interesting to see if people can figure out the combination of top and b/s woods.
Maybe I should record a bunch on many different combination and create short clips and submit a poll.

oh boy :D

looking forward to that, should you 'decide to accept this mission' ;)

even if you've got the soundclips 'in-the-can' & 'ready-to-go'
i imagine uploading them could be a bit time-consuming :o

it'd be cool, if you'd like to do something like that, though 8)

Like the rest, I saw the initial ads for that Buiders Reserve and admired the look of the instrument. And wondered just how good ot would sound. And now we know! Super tone which you played very well indeed.
Thanks from me for taking the time and many congratulations on the new guitar. Enjoy every moment.

Thank you, oatordeal and EnglishGuy, for the compliments.

I started thinking about building my own sound-clip database on different combination of tone woods.
I will play a fixed set of song segments (3 or 4 songs trimmed to 1 minute play time) on different guitars.
As I'm a fingerstylist, I will ask my friend to play strumming segments.

Obviously, I have limited access to guitars (whatever I currently own). To overcome this problem, I will ask Joe @ Empire Music to help me in this endeavor. His store has tons of different Taylor guitars with many different wood combinations (regular ones to one off customs). If this goes well, I will be busy and have lots of fun. :)
