As I recall, the scarf joint was introduced in 2007. I don’t remember how quickly it was implemented across all models however.

Comment Deleted, because in an attempt to expand the conversation, apparently I "hijacked the thread" ... so, after a short drive around the block,  I hereby leave the original thread running, with the keys in the ignition and hopefully no permanent damage done.

I'll do the same as the previous poster, because my reply no longer makes sense.

The first reply did - the discussion moved on with the second reply. CORRECTION: THE DISCUSSION STOPPED DUE TO THE CRITIQUE ABOVE AND BELOW.

That's pretty harsh.   Hijacking, to me, is changing the subject in a thread so that it's difficult or impossible to answer the original question.  That didn't happen here.  The question was answered ... and no one had anything to add for a day and a half.  It's not like the OP was soliciting opinions on a guitar; he was asking for a specific year, and he got one.  Maybe you expect all followup posts to consist of nothing more than, "Yes, I agree with Herb," but I don't.  With the question answered, I don't mind moving on to a related, but different, topic.

Sorry - I thought I was being humorous.  You took me far more seriously than I ever plan or expect.  ;)

But NOW you must agree that we have hijacked the thread.  :)

Okay, okay. :D The question was answered immediately so it's okay to expand on discussions involving the scarf joint. ;)

Anyone else have comments on the scarf joint? Do you know when it was implemented in any specific models?

The scarf joint headstock was phased in on the 100/200 Series a couple of years after the 300 Series/up (around 2009) and then on the Big Baby. As far as I know, the only model that still retains a fingerjoint style headstock is the Baby.

My GC3 is a 2007 and has a scarf joint, so I think that coincides with what is said above.  I know that in 2004 all Taylor's, regardless of series, had finger joints.  So, to answer your question, the finger joint went away in '06 or '07.

Now, when did that finger joint replace the solid neck with headstock wings?

I think that it may have been 2000 or 2001...not sure if it coincided with the introduction of the NT neck or not...

The finger joint was introduced in 1999 and gradually phased in across all the guitar lines.
