Hello from Vancouver, Canada
« on: December 07, 2013, 04:05:03 PM »
Mick here . . . just wanted to say 'Hi' and to let you all know I have just picked up the guitar again after setting it aside for 47 years (not the same guitar, of course!).

After such a long drought I guess I went a little crazy - I started out with a Simon & Patrick in the summer, then bought an Epiphone Casino, followed by a Martin HD28 - and then a couple of weeks ago I discovered the Taylor GS Mini-e Mahogany and I can't put it down!

I love all my guitars but the GS Mini has got to be the most playable and fun guitar of the lot! Amazing tone and quality for the money.

Can't tell you how much I am enjoying re-learning how to play.

Chat soon!

Hey Mick, welcome. Yes, those GS Mini's are fun little guitars (love mine). Congrats on yours and your other new guitars.  Last time I was in Vancouver, I went to the World's Fair in 1986 (Expo '86) Beautiful place, indeed.

Thanks for the "warning" Stepchild. I look forward to the multiplication process. Just need to set up an appropriate budget for GAS after I have showered my wife with love and gifts!

By the way, a question for anyone who might be able to answer: I bought my GS Mini-e hog as a 2013 Fall Limited edition but I don't see anything on the guitar that identifies it as such. How can I be sure it really is a FLTD edition?

Thanks Shayne.

Yes I see the GS Mini FLTD Rosewood on the Taylor website and it appears to be the only one of the GS Mini series that is FLTD. My Mini Hog had a tag on it in the store indicating it was a FLTD edition GS Mini but, as I say, there is no indication on the guitar that it really is a FLTD Mini.

My GS Mini was manufactured in September so my guess is that the store simply assumed it was a Fall Limited edition and put that on the ticket. In any case, it plays great and it sounds great - even in my hands!

The first thing you need to do is stop the gifts.  continue with the love, and you'll be able to have more Taylors.

hey Mick,
sounds like you're off to a running start :)
nice selection of gear in your arsenal & like you, i recently picked up a mini also, but with a spruce top &
no pickup, and am having to re-learn how to play as well, but likely for different reasons ... enjoy the ride 8)
it's not about what you play,
it's all about why you play ...

Hi Michael - I now remember why I gave up guitar 47 years ago . . . I can't control the urge to pick up the guitar and noodle - any time of the day or night! And, as Steppy above warned, Taylor's have a way of multiplying  . . . I just ordered a NOS Taylor 2010 GC6 (no longer in production) from Musicians Friend. I need an intervention! Seriously!

BTW, I talked to Taylor this morning to see if they could confirm that my GS Mini-e Mahogany is a 2013 Fall Limited edition. They told me that my S/N indicates a standard model but the fact that it has the factory installed ES-T electronics (new this year) makes it a 2013 FLTD edition. He also said that there is no way to tell from looking at the guitar if it is a FLTD model or not, since it is not displayed on the label or anywhere else on the guitar.

Now, let me see - which guitar to play while the wife is away . . .  ;D
