New to Taylor, But Not to Guitar
« on: February 17, 2014, 08:16:14 PM »
I live in Southern California.  Guitar has been my hobby for decades.  First came folk guitar (Neil Young, Stephen Stills, Cat Stevens, etc.), then came electric, more recently classical and now I've just begun learning fingerstyle.  Having owned an Alvarez Yairi steel string since I was a teenager, I added a 2013 Taylor 814ce Tobacco Sunburst to my collection - specifically to feed my newfound love for fingerstyle.

Happy to be on the forum!  More to come from me, I assure you.

Welcome.  Been playing since 1967 but I too am a recent fingerstyle convert. Love my small bodied guitars for fingerstyle--although I also play my super-jumbo baritone fingerstyle!

Thanks for the warm welcome, everyone.  Yes, I've realized I may have jumped a tad prematurely with the 814ce.  I am not an "aggressive" player and for fingerstyle, my beautiful 814 might be a little large.  It responds splendidly to a pick, but not quite as eagerly to fingerstyle, at least the way I play.

Welcome!

Being in Southern California, you might want to take a quick trip down to El Cajon and do the Taylor factory tour.  I hear it's great, and if I ever get out that way again, I plan to do so...

Welcome to the forum.  The 814 is my next guitar.  I have played them and loved it.

Welcome. I'm wanting to add an 814 to my collection too.
Pick up my guitar and play, just like yesterday
