Eagles Concert
« on: May 29, 2014, 02:26:19 PM »
Hi Guys
Wife and I went to see the The Eagles last night on their first stop in the UK of the "History Of The Eagles" world tour. They were simply awesome. I've been a big fan for some forty years and first saw them when they did a few back up gigs here when they were recording the first couple of albums in London. When they became famous their live concerts became almost clinically good, you could almost be listening to the album at home. Last night was different. They were relaxed, played songs that meant something to them and seemed to be having as much fun as the audience. Joe Walsh has no right to be looking and playing as well at his age. They're all getting on a bit now but they can still rock with the best. If you get the chance it's well worth the price.

We love the Eagles too. These old groups will soon be gone.....they play great music, which is getting hard to find. I guess we just aren't into the "new" music. Sounds like it was an awesome concert.

Wow, sounds fabulous. We would love to see The Eagles. Heck, I'd settle for a TV special of one of their recent concerts!

Hi Lizzy
If you can't get to see them, I highly recommend their "Hell Freezes Over" DVD. Probably available from Amazon. It was made in 1994 when they got back together after a fourteen year row. Lots of superb acoustic versions of old favourites. They also released their "History Of The Eagles" documentary DVD which tells the whole fascinating story of the ups, downs, fall outs and fantastic success over four decades. Terrific musicians and songwriters.

We have the hell Freezes Over DVD, but have not seen the History of the Eagles. Would love to see that. Thanks for the tip!

Never did understand the passion for "Hotel California".  Second most boring, repetitive song after "Hey Jude".  Sorry to you Eaglomaniacs;  my little diatribe should do nothing to diminsh your enjoyment of the group and their current tour.

Did love Joe Walsh in concert with the James Gang in 1969.  Opened for Santana at the Fillmore East.

I don't think there's anyone you haven't seen!
Your Hotel diss did not stir any discontent in me, I still love it.  I am not a fan of Hey Jude either, and also have a hard time with Stairway to Heaven....but adore other Led otherwise.
To each his own. If it had been up to me, Adele wouldn't have gotten past her demo. So what do I know!
