Okay, so MichaelW has me beat for number of Taylor guitars over the years.  My list is around 10 Taylors that I remember-
1992 410 (pinless bridge, mahogany back/sides)
early 420 (pinless bridge, rosewood back/sides)
420-M (pinless bridge, maple back/sides)
420-K (pinless bridge, all koa)
710-R (redwood top)
Baby Taylor
114 (early, when they were made in the US)
110 (early when made in US and with small neck heel)

May have also had a couple more.  Seems I had a 410-R (pinless bridge, rosewood back/sides) which came out before the 420.  Or, if not, then it was a 420-R which was made after the standard 420 was switched to maple for a year or two.

There could be others.  Sometimes guitars moved through my hands for a few weeks before being traded.  I used to be really bad about that.  And it was easier when there were more independent shops open in my area.

Between Buffalo Brothers' 100% trade-up policy and special Taylor sales, I've gone through a bunch. From memory...

Had (nine): 214ce-L3 (Maranatha), 414ce LTD (imbuia), 512e (wide neck), 514 (should have been labelled a 524), 555, 716c(no E) LTD (imbuia), T5 Std (received in trade for:), SolidBody (2 humbuckers), Baby Taylor

Have (six): GA8-12, BR-VII, GS-Custom (redwood/walnut), R. Taylor Style 2 (cedar/mahogany), SolidBody Classic, GS mini (mahogany)

Only one--my 2013 314ce. As far as I can tell, it will probably be my last. I did play my dream guitar at a Road Show once--716ce.

My wife is not too keen on the multiple guitars concept--when I wanted start playing electric guitar (I bought a Tele) my wife said, "Don't you already have a guitar?"

I'm not sure how I warmed her up to the idea of buying a Taylor. In her words--"Don't you already have an acoustic guitar?" The one I had before the Taylor was/is an Alvarez laminate guitar that I use for beach weddings.

So you really want to know.... Well... since I was turned on to Taylor in 2000 and beacuse  Of The internet  and forums like this one  , I became addicted, and over the 12-15 years have had around 40.

There have be up times and down times , Lately I'm kinda burning out and have settled down  to what you see.
I've sold some really nice ones ,  but  keep what turns me on at the time . Some have to stay some will go. and I'm sure I'll try a few more.
 Crazy hua ?  :-\
Sold and kept a few Martins also !

So how many Taylor's have you ever owned? For me..... Four: 114ce, 414ce, GS Mini Koa, 714ce

Kmeister, don't show him my posting....I only have one.  It's a 1998 310.

I don't think this will "warm her up" in the right way but you could say, "Don't you already have a pair of shoes (or purse)?"  when she returns from the store.  For the record, I have been married for 37 years and would never say that to my wife....I like living here.

I've owned twelve, and still own eight of them (seven GAs and one Mini). Those that have left were an all figured sapele 2008 BTO GS, a 1999 W65 (all walnut 12 string), a 2008 GC7 and a 2001 514e.

Tim and Michael..... Do you guys have a favorite in your fleet? If so, I am curious what makes it your favorite. With a collection that big you should have plenty of stunning guitars and great sounding ones, so is there a sentimental reason for the favorite?
it's difficult for me to pick a 'favorite' (if one has more than child, which one is the 'favorite'),
but in terms of uniqueness (the most unTaylor-like Taylor, tone-wise), i'd have to say this one -
814LTD Custom Shop redwood/ziricote

as far as i know, i haven't seen another in this wood combination &
if aother were to be made, the specs would be a good bit different
(among them wood thicknessing, bracing, finish & headstock joint) -
if there was ever a Taylor that was leaning towards a 'thick' gibsonesque
type of tone while maintaining Taylor's definition, for me it's this one :)
it's not about what you play,
it's all about why you play ...

That's a pretty guitar Michael.  I gotta admit.  I never even heard of ziricote till you mentioned it.
