Just one.  :D

What??  What??!   You own and moderate this forum, and only have ONE guitar from Taylor?       :o      Is that even legal???
You've either found the perfect guitar for you, or you have some inhuman level of self control.  I'm impressed / astounded / envious _______
Taylors:  424-LTD (all koa) and a 114ce that lives with friends in Alaska.  Low maintenance carbon fiber guitars are my "thing" these days, but I will always keep the koa 424.  Several ukulele and bass guitars too.
*Gone but not forgotten:  a 2001 414ce, 410, 354-LTD twelve string, 314-N, 416-LTD baritone, T5 Classic, 615ce, 2006 GS-K, 1996 (first year) Baby

Tim and Michael..... Do you guys have a favorite in your fleet? If so, I am curious what makes it your favorite. With a collection that big you should have plenty of stunning guitars and great sounding ones, so is there a sentimental reason for the favorite?
it's difficult for me to pick a 'favorite' (if one has more than child, which one is the 'favorite'),
but in terms of uniqueness (the most unTaylor-like Taylor, tone-wise), i'd have to say this one -
814LTD Custom Shop redwood/ziricote

as far as i know, i haven't seen another in this wood combination &
if another were to be made, the specs would be a good bit different
(among them wood thicknessing, bracing, finish & headstock joint) -
if there was ever a Taylor that was leaning towards a 'thick' gibsonesque
type of tone while maintaining Taylor's definition, for me it's this one :)

Do you still own it?
yep :)

i almost got impatient waiting for the wood to realize it was no longer a tree,
as the wood set was freshly seasoned, planed & cut, it took about a year -
in the meantime i had just bought a 02 w14ce sitka/walnut that i played
much more often & eventually sold it to RickS after meeting him (great guy)
http://www.acousticguitarforum.com/forums/showthread.php?t=315608

in the meantime, after tuning & rechecking, lather, rinse, repeat, after a year had past,
i had the guitar given the once over by the folks at Taylor & the next time i opened the case ...  :o

That's a pretty guitar Michael.  I gotta admit.  I never even heard of ziricote till you mentioned it.
thanks, ron -
the first time i heard of ziricote was the gallery series (started in 00, finished up in 01)gray whales X12 with engelmann top
http://www.gbase.com/gear/taylor-guitars-used-taylor-gallery-seri-2001

i played an example of the gray whales & 02 a redwood top 814c Custom Shop (pre standard II) &
based on what the combination of woods had to offer, i went with redwood/ziricote on the X14 -
at the time, i was most familiar & comfortable with the X14ce & at my worst had 21 of them in about
all of the wood combinations that delivered the tone i was looking for back then (sitka, engelmann,
cedar &  mahogany tops, sapele, khaya, ovangkol, mahogany, maple, rosewood, imbuia back & sides)

in the back of my mind, every once in a while i wonder -
what if i'd went with the X15, with florentine cutaway :-\
it's not about what you play,
it's all about why you play ...

Big Baby Taylor
R Taylor
955E 12 String englemann spruce top
K14CE Cedar Top
BTO GA Cocobolo B&S Sinker Redwood top. Adi Bracing.

I know some with lots more but mine seems to think why have that many when you can only play one at a time?

That's stunning. A beautiful thing when it sounds as good as it looks, and they all don't. Keep that one.  8)

I don't think this will "warm her up" in the right way but you could say, "Don't you already have a pair of shoes (or purse)?"  when she returns from the store.

Oh yes!  ;D Actually when I read that, I thought "hey, don't you remember in the marriage contract, the part about one guitar for every 10 pair of shoes?" Either of these retorts needs to be said with a big, big smile. If she can't smile back, well that's on her.....

For the record, I have been married for 37 years and would never say that to my wife....I like living here.

I've been married 34 years and wouldn't have said it.... 20 years ago. Having made it this far, it would now never need to be said.  Love that gal.

8, if memory serves:
412ce
414ce sltd
510
555
615
710
W10
516e fltd
The first 7 are fond memories now.
It dawns on me that 7 of the above were bought from my favorite music store.
Seems like they should be sending me a coffee mug at Christmas, or something.

I would say over the course of the last 15 years, I have owned probably 40-50 different Taylors.  Sometimes buying, selling and later re-buying the same model (SB Customs x2, GS Mini x3, NS32 x2, 514ceab x2, 514ce x2), and even commissioning a new Custom, selling it, then buying the same guitar back a couple years later (Only to sell it off again).  At my peak 10 years ago, I had 16 Taylors in the collection at the same time.  Looking back at it now, it was a ridiculous waste of money, in that I always took a loss when flipping them.

The collecting/swapping phase of my GAS affliction appears to have subsided.  I have 8 Taylors in the herd dating from 2002-2014, and all but the most recent buy (2014 416ce) has a story that holds a sentimental place in my heart.  Besides, the older I get the less I feel the need to chase after the elusive "Holy Grail".  I'm finding all that i need in all that I already have.

The other spouse that does not play will never understand.
I must have the one spouse that doesn't fit this mold. My husband doesn't play guitar, but is extremely supportive. If it weren't for him, I'd probably only have 2 of my current 6 Taylors. Not only is he my biggest supporter, he's my biggest fan.
Susie
Taylors: 914 ● K24ce ● 414 ● GSMeK+ ● BT-K
Ponos: ABD-6C Master Series (Cedar/Acacia) ● MGBD-6 Deluxe (Mango)

Not so fast, TaylorGirl! My spouse is in the very same category as yours - she is the best! She not only supports my guitar journey, but she also shares in my excitement about it. It doesn't hurt that she thinks I'm the most talented singer/songwriter in the world either! I love that girl!
My Taylor Grand Auditoriums:

1997 Cujo14 - old growth cedar/black walnut
2014 K24e - master grade koa
2018 Custom GA - bear claw sitka spruce/mahogany
2019 614 - torrified sitka spruce/flamed maple
2020 714 - lutz spruce/rosewood

I wish my wife thought of it as a guitar journey. :(
On the other hand she never has much to say about either.
The most negative thing I have ever heard is "I have never heard it played that way before" and we all know what that means. :-[
