First Taylor
« on: February 22, 2016, 09:17:54 PM »
Hello,
My name is Steve Brewer from Lorton, VA.  I just purchased a 2012 Taylor Fall Limited dread with curly sapelle back and sides on a European spruce top from the original owner.  I am predominately an electric blues-rock player, but wanted to learn to play more acoustic and this guitar just feels right.

The previous owner did not register the guitar.  Does anyone know if I, as the second owner, can do so?

Thanks much,
Steve

Great acquisition, Steve! Those 2012 limiteds are very nice guitars. Theoretically, you should be able to register it, and you can do it on Taylor's website. Give it a try. If for nothing else, you'll begin to receive quarterly issues of Taylor's great publication "Wood and Steel". Congrats and welcome to the forum!

Hi Steve. Welcome to the UTGF. Congrats on your new-to-you DNce-FLTD. I own the GS model. That's flatsawn quilted sapele on the back and sides, not curly sapele. Kinda of a rare find. The wood was harvested in Africa. Sent to a sawmill in France to be cut into slabs. Next stop was Germany where it was planed. Made it to Cove City, NC and then on to El Cajon. You know the rest of the story.8)

Hey Steve. Great choice. As CodeBlueEMT mentioned, that's quite a special wood combo you have there.  Enjoy...

Welcome to the forum Steve. Yeah, those ltd's are real beauties! You've got yourself a great Taylor to get to know acoustics. I'm guessing you'll love it.

You can register it, which will get Wood & Steel coming in the mail.  Since you are not the original owner you don't qualify for the warranty.  But it is still a very nice guitar, and unlikely to develop problems.
Taylors:  424-LTD (all koa) and a 114ce that lives with friends in Alaska.  Low maintenance carbon fiber guitars are my "thing" these days, but I will always keep the koa 424.  Several ukulele and bass guitars too.
